How and why it is important to Cleanse and Charge your gemstones.
order for your gemstones to work their very best, it is essential that they are
properly cared for. I promise it’s not complicated and doesn’t take very long
What do you mean by Cleanse, Charge and Program?
To make the terms ‘Cleanse, Charge/Energise and Program’ easier to understand, think of them as the following:
- Cleansing is like clearing the cache or data on your phone, you are cleansing it of stored information.
- Charging/Energising (they are the same thing, just a different name people use) is the same as putting your phone on charge, gemstones need the same, they need energy to function properly.
- Programming is the same as downloading an app to your phone, you need a
specific app to do certain things.
What should I do when my bracelet or gemstones first arrive?
While I will have already cleansed & charged your items prior to dispatch, it’s always a good idea for you to do the same before use.
Your order will have passed through many hands to get to you. Crystals absorb both positive & negative energy, and just because your postman maybe Mr Happy, that doesn’t mean Mr Grumpy somewhere down the line that has handled your order is as pleasant. So cleansing your items as soon as you receive them is really important.
Something you need to take note of
You may notice that on your first few days of wearing your new bracelet that the colours of the gemstones, especially the lighter ones such as Rose Quartz, may change colour, or Clear Quartz for example could look cloudy.
Please don’t panic, it is quite normal for gemstones to absorb a lot at first. The reason being is that like a magnet, they pull feelings, emotions, anger, resentment etc from us, and also from our environment, absorbing them like a sponge. They don’t always change colour, some do, some don’t. Some people find it takes weeks before they notice a change, for others it can a few days. The more cleansing you need, the more quickly you will notice a change in your gemstones.
If for example if you have a bracelet that contains any gemstones that are from the Quartz family, keep in mind that Quartz is a very powerful stone. Quartz collects, stores and transmutes energy (hence why it is used in watches and computers). It will act quickly within your aura to heal you.
In your first few days or weeks of wearing your new bracelet, you may experience different emotions. Your gemstones are cleansing you. Even if you have buried deep emotional hurt, gemstones will find it and begin the healing process.
You may experience brief bouts of sadness/crying/relief/happiness, this is perfectly normal, and it will pass, but this doesn’t happen to everyone. This is why cleansing your gemstones is so important if you want them to continue helping you.
Ideally cleansing should be done on a weekly basis, but if you do notice any changes in your gemstones, then please cleanse them.
There are many ways to cleanse gemstones. You can use a Sage smudge stick, or incense sticks. Sage, Cedarwood, Sandalwood are excellent choices.
Hold your gemstones in the smoke of incense or smudge sticks for about a minute. If you don’t have any of these items then you can lay your gemstones on a small amount of brown rice overnight. Singing bowls work wonders too and they sound lovely.
Loud music is another excellent cleansing method. So stick some feel good songs on, the louder the better and pop your gemstones near your speakers. It will make you feel good too.
Once you have cleansed your gemstones, the next thing you need to do is to charge (energise) them.
Charging is just as important as cleansing. If your phone dies, you charge it otherwise it won’t do anything right? Gemstones are no different, in order to work properly they need to be charged.
You can use the suns pranic energies to charge your gemstones. I like to use the sun from early morning until lunchtime.
You can also use the moons energies for a more gentle charge. Experiment and find out what works for you.
I have a colour changing lamp, depending on what gemstone I am using and for what purpose, depends on which colour I use. I lay my gemstones/bracelets over the top and leave it for a few minutes. ...cats also add a nice energy to gemstones, if you have one sleeping somewhere once you have cleansed your gemstones you can pop them next to your sleeping cat for an hour or so.
The most important thing you can do with crystals when programming is show them respect, they are ancient & very wise beings that can & will assist you if you ask them. Hold them, study them, really take in their beauty & above all, appreciate them.
Clear your mind & tell your gemstones either out loud or in your head what you want them to do for you. You do need to be fairly specific in what you want them to do. You wouldn’t download Pokémon for example, if you wanted to play angry birds.
So if for example you have an Amethyst tumblestone and you want it to help you with headaches or stress then that is what you need to ask.
A very simple program would be:
- Amethyst, I would like you to help
soothe my headaches, for my highest good.
Or for stress would be:
- Amethyst I
would like you to help lower my stress levels for my highest good.
When you are programming gemstones, please don’t just mumbled the words, really ‘see’ in your minds eye, your headaches/stress etc being reduced, see yourself feeling better and calmer. Really believe in your own words.
You can choose your own words here, go with what feels right for you. I just wanted to give you an example.
When I have finished programming, I ask the gemstones if they could also lend any other properties that they feel appropriate to help the person in question. You could also ask for any negative energy to be transmuted into positive energy in the form that best suits the person in question (if working with any of the quartz family)
Enjoy your crystals and look after them, they will serve you well I am more than happy to answer any questions you may have, my details can be found within your information pack or you can use the ’contact us’ section on here
